VAL DI FIEMME HEADLONG TOWARDS 2013. RENOVATION WORKS ON THE XC STADIUM HAVE BEGUN

Start and finish area now dismantled
A new underground structure for the IBC
Works have begun ahead of schedule
Works on the ski jumping stadium in Predazzo due to start in a few weeks
The Nordic Ski Fiemme OC runs perfectly on time. All the plans and projects are taking shape one after the other, towards the 2013 FIS Nordic Ski World Championship that will be taking place in Italy’s Val di Fiemme from February 20th to March 3rd 2013.
Renovation works on the sport venues, namely the Cross-Country Ski Center in Lago di Tesero and the Ski Jumping Stadium in Predazzo, were due to begin by the end this month. Instead, they started at the end of June. A huge 2,000 square meters large area underneath the XC stadium is slowly coming to life. It will host the IBC during the competitions, while it will serve as storage area, once the Worlds are over.
Besides the underground area for the IBC, the Fiemme 2013 team decided to enlarge the race offices, build a brand new building that will host the accreditation office, a new area for the volunteers and a sub press centre for the World Championships and for other sport events further on. The sub press centre would be turned into a dance hall when not used by sport events. Rooms will be specifically kept free also for competition jury, commentators and anti-doping services.
By the end of the autumn the underground area will be ready and the ski tracks restored. Works on the ski jumping stadium in Predazzo are due to start in a few weeks as well.
In the meantime, the Nordic Ski Fiemme OC is working hard on the FIS Tour de Ski races scheduled for January 8th-9th 2011. A new FIS inspection will be taking place on August 26th.
A ‘study group’ from the Fiemme 2013 OC is planned to visit the 2011 FIS Nordic Ski World Championship in Oslo next February.
